More Nice News
I just received an email from the fiction editors at Existere, and they are going to publish a story of mine entitled "Sleeping Deeply."
Here's the opening sentence of the story:
"After Julia Pomaville’s dinner party, Bruce Hunter quietly battled a bout of insomnia, which led to him discovering a man in his basement."
It's kind of a slipstream story, and I hope you think of subscribing to Existere so you can read the rest: http://www.yorku.ca/existere/
Existere published another slipstream story of mine a while back entitled "The Neighborhood Division."

Jeff, what do you mean by "slipstream story"? I'm not familiar with it. Forgive me if the answer is obvious. LOL.
Well, as I understand it, slipstream means that the story "slips" between genres. . . in many cases, the story slips between sci-fi and literary (I'm thinking Farenheit 451 or 1984). In the case of "Sleeping Deeply" I think I'm slipping between horror, thriller, sci-fi and literary. Though, some people would also call the story magical realism. In the end, I hope it's just a good story, no matter what we call it.
After I asked you last night, I did some searching and the only answer I received was rather ambiguous, but after reading a story that was, according to the author, a slipstream story, you're explanation is pretty much on target. The story I read was horror, but then a love story, then in the end it was just really weird. So, yeah. LOL.
